SOVA’s Foundation Year Program is a university level program, equivalent to the first year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (BFA). The Foundation Year consists of three studio and two humanities courses in both the Fall and Winter terms. Students who successfully complete all ten courses will graduate from SOVA with a certificate issued by Yukon College.

Graduates who are interested in pursuing BFA degrees may qualify for the block transfer of their Foundation Year credits to SOVA-affiliated art schools across Canada. This means that graduates may transfer from SOVA directly into the second year of BFA degree programs at selected art schools.

In order to qualify for block credit transfers, students must have completed all ten courses in the Foundation Year Program, with good grades, and a strong portfolio. SOVA instructors will guide students through the application process for entry into Canada’s top art schools at a second year level.
